Most of our class activities can be categorized in one of the following three areas:
Sparring

Simulated fighting techniques whereby two or more adversaries dual in
order to provide practical application of martial arts techniques learned
in class. The end result being the self-satisfaction and peace of mind
of meeting the challenge, facing the enemy, and performing to the best
of the student's ability without having to prove who is the “better
person”.

Forms

Forms are the essence (the art) of all martial arts. Also known widely in
the martial arts world by the Japanese term “kata”, forms are
prearranged or patterns of movement simulating fighting against one or
more armed or unarmed opponents to develop fluidity of movement
and expansion of knowledge of techniques. Forms are to be used as
an additional training method, a self-improvement exercise, to develop
the indomitable spirit, and for the overall development of the mind and
body.

Self Defense

Pre-arranged and impromptu methods are used. Pre-arranged self-
defense techniques are similar to forms in that the student performs a
specific pattern of movement in order to defend against a pre-
determined offensive strike. Impromptu self-defense requires the
student to defend against an unknown strike and to perform an
instinctive self-defense counter based on their martial arts training.
The student normally practices with an instructor or with another
student although the student can practice both methods solo.
